Spring Makeup Look

I love Spring makeup. I love having a lighter base, I love looking more glowy and radiant.

BUT, skincare is just as important when trying to achieve a dewy, glowy makeup look.

And, as much as I love A/W makeup, by the time Spring comes around, I am SO ready for a switch up of my makeup bag.

The primer I am using at the minute is the Barry M Flawless Correcting Primer. This is super hydrating, hides any redness and really evens my skin tone. My skin is left feeling dry and dull after the colder months, so I am up for anything that will help hydrate and make it so much easier to apply my makeup.

The foundation that I am obsessing over right now and is perfect for this time of year, is the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear foundation and it goes beautifully with the L’Oreal primer! I am also loving the It Cosmetics CC Cream – it is so god damn good. Super hydrating, glowy, and insane coverage, what more do you want?

nars and cc cream

To cover any blemishes,  I use the NARS Soft Matte Concealer. This is nowhere near as matte as it sounds, and I am so glad I decided to give this a try. It has the perfect formula and the right amount of coverage to cover blemishes or any redness that I’ve got going on (most of the time). And again, not too heavy on the skin. I use this with a damp beauty blender so that it doesn’t cling to any dry areas, or I find it blends really well with fingers.

Under my eyes, I use the Maybelline Eraser Eye Brightener. This is super light on the skin, and is the only product I have found that doesn’t crease under my eyes! It has a very sheer amount of coverage but really does brighten. It’s very similar to the YSL Touché Eclat, so if you’re looking for a good dupe for that…

I have a new favourite bronzer. I put down my beloved Benefit Hoola, and I picked up the NARS Laguna Bronzer in Rome in January and I have used it everyday since. It blends like an absolute dream and is the perfect shade for me. It doesn’t look muddy or too warm toned. I LOVE IT. I wish I had gotten this sooner.

For blush and highlight, I have been using the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Peonies Please Blush/Highlighter. This is the perfect product for Spring and is crazyyyy pigmented – you need to try it!

For brows, I use my trusty Fleur De Force x Eylure Brow Define Pencil in the shade medium. This is all I use on my brows these days. Doesn’t smudge, and stays in place all day!

For eyeshadow, I have been using the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. You can create so many different looks with this palette. You honestly can’t go wrong.

Tanya Burr Selfie Lash is my new favourite mascara. I am so fussy with mascara’s, but I’d heard so many great things about it and I saw it was on offer in Superdrug so I had to give it ago. Let’s just say, I’m going back to buy a load more while they’re on offer. It is insanely good – very similar to the YSL Babydoll mascara.

The cold Winter months have absolutely ruined my lips. They are so dry and cracked that all I have been putting on them at the minute is Carmex (preferably the Mint one) and it seems to be working a treat. I can’t wait to be able to wear lipstick again!

Anybody else completely ready for Spring and Summer? Winter is my absolute FAVE, but I am so ready for a bit of sunshine.

August Favourites!

aug-faves

I swear these months are going by quicker and quicker! On the plus side, I cannot explain how excited I am for Autumn and Winter; hot chocolate, beanie hats, cosy jumpers and candles – that’s what it’s all about! So, I’m going to be chatting you through everything I have been obsessed with throughout August.

Max Factor Master Piece Max Mascara is a new find for me, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best drugstore mascaras I have ever tried. Max Factor is a brand I haven’t tried too much of, and this mascara has really made me want to venture out and try so much more from them. This product really helps to lengthen and volumise lashes. I know a lot of people love clumpy looking lashes, but my lashes are so naturally long that I really doesn’t suit me, and this does the job absolutely perfectly! It is also great for bottom lashes too! This mascara reminds me of the Yves Saint Laurent Baby Doll mascara, so if any of you are looking for a dupe…

Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Eyeliner is a recent purchase, but one I have been absolutely loving. To be honest, I only bought this because I was so intrigued by the shape of the eyeliner that I knew I just had to try it! And, I was pleasantly surprised. It is actually really easy to use and is great for creating winged liner. It is ideal for creating thin, or thick lines, as well as flicks.

My next favourite is the Yes to Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturiser. I have been using this everyday for the last 3 or 4 weeks and I am IN LOVE. It leaves my skin feeling so nourished and hydrated and doesn’t leave me with the odd dry patch, like some other moisturisers do. Some moisturisers tend to leave my skin feeling quite dry after it has been absorbed into my skin, however this product leaves my skin feeling soft for hours on end.

I get stuck in a bit of a rut with concealers; once I’ve found one I love, I just tend to stick with it. However, the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer has made its way into my everyday makeup routine. It’s super creamy and doesn’t cling to any dry patches and it has really great coverage.

NYX Liquid Suede’s are the best liquid lipsticks I have tried. They don’t dry out or crack my lips, they last a really long time even through eating and drinking. They are really pigmented and one layer is more than enough! I have quite a few of the shades but the shades I have been wearing most regularly is Sandstorm and Soft Spoken as they are the perfect for all year round and go great with a neutral, or smoky eye. I also LOVE Stone Fox, but it is slightly more out there and is definitely something I will be wearing throughout Autumn and Winter.

Another NYX product and this is the Contour Palette. I have tried many different drugstore contour products and this is by far the best. The shade ‘Sculpt’ is the perfect shade for creating that chiselled cheeks look as it has a slightly grey undertone to it. I have also been really enjoying using the yellow shade ‘Cream’ to set my under-eye concealer. The highlight shades are also amazing; super pigmented and no fallout. The palette is £18, but you can also buy individual shades for £5 each, if you didn’t want the whole palette.

My next favourite is Tanya Burr Eye Shadow Palettes. Both of these are from the Soft Luxe Collection; Enchanted Dream and Birthday Suit. I couldn’t decide which one to include in my favourites as I love and use them both so regularly, so I thought ‘why not include both?’. Each palette consists of four shadows, all of which are super wearable. Birthday Suit is a much more subtle palette consisting of a champagne shimmer, a nude with pink and beige undertones, a shimmer brown, and a matte brown. Enchanted Dream is a slightly smokier palette and consists of a champagne shimmer, a brown shimmer with plum undertones, a mauve matte and a deep purple matte. All of the shades in both palettes are so easily wearable, they are really pigmented, blend wonderfully and last such a long time! For £6 each, you really can’t go wrong!

Yet, another eye shadow favourite. This time, a more high-end palette; the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. I cannot explain how beautiful this palette is. All of the shades are super pigmented and blend like an absolute dream! This is the perfect palette for the transition from Summer to Autumn, and even through Winter too. It has the perfect combination of matte and shimmer shades, and has the most gorgeous, mauvey-pink suede packaging.

My final favourite is the Zoella Sweet Inspirations Bath Latte. This smells absolutely incredible! It is such a calming, relaxing scent, that isn’t overly sweet and overpowering, but strong enough that it lingers on the skin for such a long time! It is the perfect all-year-round scent. On a side note, how amazing does the new Zoella Lifestyle range look? I am definitely going to be placing a HUGE order when they get released, buying at least one of everything! And, of course I will be writing a blog post on what I get! SO EXCITED.

Summer Beauty Haul

IMG_2501

So over the past couple of days, I have either ordered online, or picked up quite a few bits from Boots and Superdrug, so I thought it was only right to do a little haul. Actually, I bought more than I realised so I will be doing two separate hauls; a beauty haul and a skincare haul.

Starting with all things make-up and beauty…

I went slightly OTT in Superdrug as they had a 3 for 2 offer across all cosmetics – well, it’d be rude not to, eh?

I am obsessed with matte liquid lipsticks and when I saw that Tanya Burr had released some, I had to try them out. The shade I picked up was Martha Moo, and this is the perfect nude shade with pink, mauvey undertones. It looks quite bright when you first apply it but darkens slightly as it dries. It doesn’t dry out my lips, or have that sticky consistency that others do, it is really comfortable to wear. The packaging of this product, and the rest of Tanya Burr Cosmetics, is absolutely gorgeous. They feel very luxurious considering the prices of the products and the products are of such high quality. I cannot wait for my local store to stock more of these products so I can try more out, I am particularly excited for the new eye shadow palettes!

IMG_2514

Something that I have been desperate to try for ages, but has always been out of stock in my local store, is the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in the shade 01. I am yet to find a concealer that beats the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, so I am excited to try this one out and see how the two compare!

IMG_2519

Not that I needed any new mascaras, but I picked up two new releases. The first one is by Maybelline and this is the Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara. I could not get on with the original Lash Sensational at all, as much as I tried and tried, it just wasn’t for me, however, I thought I’d give this one a try. The brush on this is very different to the original Lash Sensational and Maybelline describes it as an “extraordinary patented fanning brush”. I have used this a couple of times and so far, so good! It grabs every lash and really does give that “multiplying effect” that it promises to give.

IMG_2516IMG_2537

The other mascara I bought is another new release, but by L’Oreal and this is the Miss Hippie Mega Volume Mascara. This mascara has a bristle brush as opposed to a plastic brush, and really lengthens and volumises lashes, giving them a feathery, fluttery finish. I have only used this a handful of times but I am loving this so far and can’t wait to use it some more.

IMG_2511IMG_2535

Another new release by Rimmel is the Brow This Way range. I picked up the Highlighting Pencil and the Brow Styling Gel. I am a big fan of brow gels, I think they really help improve the appearance of brows, making them look sharper and more defined so I can’t wait to try this out – I got the shade Dark Brown. I have been searching high and low for a drugstore brow highlighting pencil so I was super excited when I saw that Rimmel had released one. I tend to use a regular highlighter as a brow bone highlight, so I am really looking forward to trying this out.

IMG_2524

Another new product from Rimmel is the 24hr Wear Colour Precise Eyeliner. The L’Oreal Superliner is my all time favourite eyeliner; however, I am always on the look-out for something even better. The shape of this eyeliner looks like it will be ideal for creating the perfect winged liner.

IMG_2528

From Barry M, I picked up a lip liner in the shade 17 which is a nude shade with brown undertones. It lasts really well and looks lovely paired with MAC’s Whirl or Velvet Teddy. I am super impressed and will definitely be picking up some more shades! I also picked up two nail varnishes from Barry M. I got the shade Dark Side of the ‘Shroom from the Sunset Daylight Curing range and Copper Mine from the new Molten Metal range. Barry M are my favourite brand for nail varnishes, the quality of them are amazing and they last such a long time.

IMG_2533IMG_2522

From Revlon, I picked up the ColorStay Foundation in the shade Buff. I have never tried this foundation before and have heard such great things about it, and seeing as I am on the hunt for a new drugstore foundation, I thought I’d give it a try. I got this in the satin finish for normal/dry skin as I much prefer a dewy, glowy look as opposed to a matte finish, especially for this time of year.

IMG_2510

The final thing, I ordered from Beauty Bay and is definitely more of a high-end purchase than high-street. This is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance eye shadow palette. I cannot get over how stunning this palette is! The packaging is really luxurious; a mauvey-pink colour and is also suede. Each and every shade is absolutely beautiful and I am SO excited to experiment with this palette! I will be doing a detailed review on this palette once I have tried and tested it out properly!
