May Faves!

Hey everyone!

Wow. It has been soooo long since I did a monthly faves… This may be a slightly longer favourites post as it has been quite a while since my last one, and apologies for it being slightly late. So, let’s get stuck in!

I have really been loving the Clinique 2-in-1 Beyond Perfection foundation. My Mum used this and couldn’t stop raving about it, so I thought I’d give it a try myself. I went to my local boots, where I got matched up and given a sample to try before I buy. I tried it the next day and knew I needed to buy it. I got this in the shade 2, Alabaster. The applicator for this foundation is more concealer-like, with a large dofer applicator. I really like this as it isn’t messy and applies super quick and easily. I find it blends best with a damp beauty blender, and it gives a medium, but buildable coverage. It evens out skin tone really nicely, and gives a demi-matte finish. It lasts such a long time, and doesn’t transfer as easily as other foundations do. A little really does go a long way with this, and I have been reaching for it a lot. I’m not all that into foundations at the minute, and besides tinted moisturisers and BB creams, this is the only one that seems to be working well for my skin right now!

I’m not really into heavy or full coverage finishes, however… The Urban Decay NAKED concealer is an absolute god-send when it comes to covering up really bad spots and blemishes. It is super full-coverage, but isn’t heavy looking or cakey at all! It also doesn’t wear as easily. Some other concealers tend to wear and rub off, particularly in more oily areas – which is where I usually get spots (my chin) and this seems to last all day. LOVE.

The next product is a powder foundation. I have never tried one of these before, but I had heard such amazing things that I had to give it a go. This is the Pixi Colour Correcting Powder Foundation. I am absolutely in love with this! It is perfect when I have a very light-coverage base on underneath as this just evens out my skin tone a little more, keeping the oil at bay and keeps my makeup in place all day. As you can see from the photo, I dropped it and it smashed into a million pieces. It isn’t a massive issue as I can still use it, but whenever I put my brush into the pan, it just ends up going everywhere, so I need to pick up a new one!

My next favourite is a mascara. When this first came out, everybody loved it and I absolutely hated it, I just couldn’t get on with it and I don’t know why – maybe I had a dodgy one? But now, I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational almost every single day. It lengthens and volumizes my lashes, making them look crazyyyy long! I also really like this for bottom lashes too. It does give lashes that slightly clumpy look, not massively, but if you’re not into that then this isn’t for you. BUT, if you love that clumped together look, then you will absolutely love this mascara! I will continue to repurchase this over and over…

I’m not all that venturous when it comes to brows. I find brows that much of a faff that when I find a product I’m happy with and enjoy using, I just kind of stick with it. But somebody recommended the Sleek Brow Kit and I thought it was about time I tried something new on my brows, and now, I genuinely don’t think I will use anything else to fill them in! I have it in the shade Dark, and Light, and the lighter one seems to be working a little better now that my hair is also lighter. I apply the wax first, using my Zoeva Brow Line brush, starting on the edges and outside of my brow, working my way in and then fill them in, using less product at the front. I then go over them in the powder to help add a bit more colour, set them and keep them in place. It is super easy and still keeps brows looking quite natural, which I love.

The Max Factor Creme Bronzer in Light Gold is a new discovery and one I think is the perfect addition to my makeup  bag for Summer! This gives the most gorgeous glow to the skin and such a lovely shade, not too warm, nor cool toned. It is great to use all over the face and for adding a little bit of depth, and the teeniest bit of shimmer. Perfect for giving you that subtle, summer glow!

My final favourite is a perfume. Perfume is something I am SO fussy and particular with; I go from one extreme to the other. From really dark, heavy and woody scents, to really light, soft, and fresh. For my birthday, Jake bought me a bottle of Jo Malone in the scent Mimosa and Cardamom. Oh. My. God. It is insane. It’s a really lightweight, and fresh scent, with slighter warmer, woodier undertones. It is great for all year round, but is particularly lovely during these gorgeous summer evening’s we have been having lately. This lasts all day, and I already know that I will be repurchasing this! I have also tried out Pomegranate Noir, Wood Sage & Sea Salt, Blackberry & Bay and Myrhh & Tonka, so I am SO torn as to which one to buy next as they are all so beautiful. Jo Malone products are perfect for gift ideas, and are such a luxurious product to own.
