Boots/Superdrug Haul

I didn’t actually intend on buying THAT much to end up with me doing a haul post. My aim was to buy one or two drugstore foundations because I feel like I have so many high-end foundations and not enough drugstore. I also feel like I get stuck in a bit of a rut in terms of foundation, so I wanted to experiment and venture out of my comfort zone a little bit. I ended up buying four, yes, four foundations… amongst other things.

First of all, I went into Superdrug as I was after the new Bourjois City Radiance foundation. However, Bourjois had a buy one, get one half price, so of course I HAD to buy something else. Because I was purposely after new foundations, I picked up the Air Mat foundation as well. I have heard such great things about Bourjois foundations and I have been trying these out over the last few days and I am really enjoying using them so far.

Also from Superdrug, I picked up the Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette. I wasn’t necessarily looking for one of these, but it looks such good quality and I hadn’t got anything else like it in my makeup collection so I thought I’d give it a try. Makeup Revolution is such an affordable brand and this palette cost just £8! MUR is also supposed to be really good in terms of dupes and cheaper alternatives for more expensive products. I am really impressed with the packaging of this product and from doing several swatches, the powders seem really pigmented!

Now, onto Boots. I wasn’t planning on buying any more foundations, BUT, Rimmel had a 2 for £10 and I couldn’t resist. I knew the formulas of these foundations had been improved and I have heard amazing things from both of these products so naturally, I wanted to try them out. The foundations I picked up were the Lasting Finish and the Match Perfection. The Lasting Finish has a much higher coverage and the Match Perfection’s coverage is a lot lighter, so I thought it would be good to get both as they are completely different formulas. Both of these foundations have SPF 20 (bonus!), and I got them both in the shade 100 Ivory.

The next thing was a repurchase. This is the L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer in the shade Light. This is so similar to the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat, however the L’Oreal version has slightly more coverage, but also works lovely as highlighter. If you don’t want to splash out on the YSL version, I would definitely recommend this as a cheaper alternative! I tend to use this to brighten up my under eyes and to highlight the tops of my cheeks.

Something else I didn’t need, nor was I looking for, but I came across the Seventeen Define and Conquer Contour Kit. Seventeen isn’t really a brand that I have thought of or paid too much attention to before, but as I was looking at the stand, they seem to have some really lovely products that are so affordable! This product caught my eye in particular as the packaging looked luxurious and the compact appeared very NARS-like as did the inside of it. It has a big mirror and the powders look really good quality and seem to be quite finely milled so they wont appear too heavy when applied to the skin. I also like the fact that the highlighter is matte as opposed to shimmer, which I do prefer. I got this in the lighter shade.

I have never really been a massive fan of lip gloss. I just find that so many of them are sticky and uncomfortable. However, my friend recommended these two to try. The darker shade (401 Amen) is matte and the lighter shade (103 Protest Queen) gives a creamy, satin finish. Both of these products are so comfortable on the lips and the lighter shade looks great alone or on top of nude lipsticks!

On to hair products. I have seen these products all over YouTube and other blogs and I was dying to try it out! This is the new Tresemmé Beauty-Full range. The thing that intrigued me about this, is that you condition before you shampoo. The idea of this is that it keeps all of the volume in your hair and doesn’t weigh it down; step 1 is the Pre-Wash Conditioner and step 2 is Shampoo. I am so excited to start using this and it was buy one, get one free!

That is everything from my Boots/Superdrug Haul. Let me know if you have tried any of these products or if you can recommend anything you think I would like!

Valentines Day Makeup Look

Valentines day is right around the corner, and I have the perfect look that will suit whatever it is you have planned, whether that’s going out with your other half, or a night out with your girls! This look is going to be all about the lips, with a very neutral eye shadow look, along with a cat-eye flick.

You should prime your face before applying the rest of your makeup in order to keep everything in place all day and night. The primer that I use is the L’Oreal Mattifying Primer. Not only does this keep your makeup in place, it reduces oil and shine.

Bourjois City Radiance is the perfect foundation for this look. It’s very lightweight and gives your skin a very glowing and luminous finish, without looking oily. It makes your complexion look very natural and radiant and just makes it look like your skin, but better! This foundation blends beautifully, and I prefer the finish of it when I apply it with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.

The next product will come as no surprise, and this is my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection concealer to cover any dark circles under my eyes. I then go over this with the L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer Pen in the shade Light 1. This is a great dupe for the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat. I also use this to highlight my face; cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and in the middle of my forehead.

To contour, the Clinique Contour Chubby Stick is perfect! I apply this by drawing a line along the hollows of my cheeks and blend it in with a beauty blender. This gives a lot more depth and definition to my cheekbones, and I will then go over this with my L’Oreal Glam Bronze bronzer. This bronzer is very natural looking and is quite subtle.

I will then take the Revlon Highlighting palette and apply this to the apples of my cheeks to add a flush of colour.

Next, is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I apply this to my t-zone to prevent any oil and shine and add this under my eyes to help set my concealer.

I use the Soap and Glory Archery pencil to fill in my eyebrows and use the clear gel at the other end to help keep them in place. This product makes filling in eyebrows so easy and makes them look so natural!

For eye shadow, I am using the original Urban Decay NAKED Palette. I use the shade ‘Sin’ all over the lid and as a brow bone highlight. I then use the shade ‘Naked’ in my crease and from the middle of my eyelid, outwards. To add a bit of depth and definition, I then take the shade ‘Buck’ through my crease and ‘Darkhorse’ in my outer V.  To create a cat-eye flick, I am using the L’Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim. This makes it so easy to do and is great for precision.

For mascara, I am loving the Maybelline ‘The Falsies Push Up Drama’ mascara. This is the perfect mascara for when you haven’t got a lot of eye make up on as it really gives a false lash effect, making your eyelashes look fuller and more voluminous.

Finally, for lips. Valentines day is about all things red, so of course, this is going to be a red lipstick. Firstly, I line my lips to stop any bleeding from the lipstick, and the lip liner that I will be using is ‘Red Dynamite’ by Rimmel. The lipstick that I am going to be using is ‘Russian Red’ by Mac. This is the perfect shade of red and gives a matte finish, making it last a very long time and is not at all drying!

That is my Valentines Day makeup look and I hope you enjoyed this post!

Everyday Makeup Routine

Today, I am going to be talking you through the makeup look that I have been loving throughout the months of Winter.

Firstly, I use the L’Oreal Mattifying Primer. I find it so hard to find a primer that actually does the job properly, but this definitely does! This primer really helps to keep my makeup in place all day and helps control oil and shine.

The foundations that I have been loving are NARS Sheer Glow in the shade Fiji, and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in B20. Both of these foundations give the complexion a very fresh, glowy finish which I think is really important at this time of year as it so easy for skin to look dry. NARS Sheer Glow has a bit of a higher coverage than the Vitalumiere Aqua, so the foundation that I use depends on my plans for that day. To apply my foundation, I use the Zoeva 104 Buffer brush. This brush is flat and applies and blends foundation perfectly, buffing it in until there are no lines or creases. For today, I am going to be using the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

Next, I use my much loved Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade Fair 1 under my eyes to cover up any dark circles and to make me look slightly more awake. I use the same concealer in a slightly darker shade, Medium 3 to cover any redness and blemishes that I may have. I use my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend in my concealer, I find that this just blends my concealer in that bit better than a brush and gives it a nicer finish.

Next, I use the MAC Studio Fix Powder to set my concealer under my eyes and on my t-zone. To apply this, I use the Real Techniques Bold Metals Brush 100. I absolutely love this powder, it keeps my makeup in place all day and really helps to control oil and shine. I also really love this brush, it is so soft and is perfect for applying powder.

To contour, I use the Clinique Contour Chubby Stick. I apply this to the hollows of my cheeks, either side of my nose and along my hairline. I then blend it in with a beauty blender and this just gives a bit more depth and definition to my face. I then use Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer. I go over all of the places that I have contoured to help set it and to add even more definition to my cheekbones. I do this with me Zoeva Luxe Sheer Cheek brush.

I then use my Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat in the shade 01 to highlight my face. I apply this to the tops of my cheeks, down the centre of nose and on the middle of my forehead. I also blend this in using a beauty blender, and this just makes my skin look a bit more awake and glowy, without it looking oily and shiny.

For my eyebrows, I use my Soap and Glory Archery Pencil in the shade Brown & Out. This is great for creating hair-like strokes and makes eyebrows look a lot more natural. I then use the Maybelline Brow Drama in the shade medium brown to help set and keep my eyebrows in place.

Nine times out of ten, I will be wearing gold eye shadow. I usually use Urban Decay’s Half Baked, but I have also made a fairly new discovery and this is Mac’s eye shadow in Amber Lights. I have SO many gold eye shadow shades but I just could not resist this one! It is quite a dark, rusty golden shade with hints of shimmer running through it, but nothing too heavy. There is no fall out and it blends really well, I apply this using my Zoeva 234 Luxe Smoky Shader brush as it makes it really easy to pack the eye shadow on. This looks lovely on it’s own, but I usually pair it with Smog from the original NAKED palette. I apply this into the crease using my Zoeva 231 Luxe Petite Crease brush and this just adds a bit more definition to the eyes. I then take the Zoeva 228 Luxe Crease brush to blend it altogether to get rid of any harsh lines.

Now, this next bit usually depends on how late I am running in the morning! This is the cat-eye flick. I love a good cat-eye, and to do this, I use the L’Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim. I start from the inner corner of my eyes and work my way outwards and flick my eyeliner the opposite way to draw on my flick and join it up with the rest of my eyeliner. I love this eyeliner because it is super thin and is great for precision!

One of the (many) mascaras that I have been using recently, is the Yves Saint Laurent Babydoll mascara. I absolutely adore this product! It is a thin, plastic brush which makes it perfect for grabbing every lash and really gives you that false lash effect. Plus, the packaging is beautiful!

Now, for lips. This is the one thing that changes on a daily basis, it just depends on my mood that day. The lipsticks that I have been reaching for the most recently, is Persistence by Mac and Glastonberry by Charlotte Tilbury.

And those are all of the products that I use pretty much every day! I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know what products you use every day!

IMG_1364It is that time of the month again where I ramble on and on about all of the things that I have been loving throughout this month!

I’ll start off with drugstore products! Firstly, is the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara. I am SO fussy with my mascaras; they need to make my eyelashes look fuller, and longer, without them feeling too thick and clumpy and this mascara does exactly that! It has lovely packaging, which makes it look a lot more expensive than it actually is. It also has a curved wand that makes it easy to grab every lash and allows you to work your way from the root upwards! This is the mascara that I have found myself reaching for the most over the past few weeks.

Until now, I have always hated pencil eyeliners. I just find that they don’t stay on and they smudge so easily. However, I decided to buy the Soap and Glory Smoulder Kohl eyeliner as it was on a buy one get second half price, so I thought I’d give it a try, and now I love it. It is so easy to apply, doesn’t smudge and stays in place all day! I apply this to my top and bottom waterline and it really does make a difference to my eye makeup.

I love the Kate Moss lipsticks by Rimmel and I recently bought the shade 38. I have always gone for nudes that have more of a brown undertone to it, whereas this is a lot more pink. However, I have found myself really enjoying using it! It is the perfect nude pink and has more of a satin finish, leaving your lips with a bit of a sheen to them and it lasts for a really long time!

Now, onto high-end products! This next product has probably become my new favourite foundation – a big claim to make, I know. This is the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation. I wear this in the shade B20 and it gives a light to medium coverage, which isn’t something I usually go for; I tend to go for foundations with a much fuller coverage. This product is so lightweight and has quite a thin consistency. It blends so easily and makes your skin look flawless without a lot of coverage! It also lasts all day long, doesn’t transfer, doesn’t crease and it doesn’t make me look oily or shiny. It does cost £33, but I am 100% going to be repurchasing this product!

This next product is extremely talked about and well-loved within the beauty sphere; this is the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm. I was really reluctant in spending so much money on a cleanser, but now, I can totally see what all of the fuss is about! It is so easy to use, it removes all traces of makeup, it smells lovely and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry like some other cleansers that I’ve used. I can’t see myself using any other product to take off my makeup! I can see myself repurchasing this A LOT.

Another lipstick that I have been absolutely loving is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Glastonberry. I am all about the lips, especially during autumn and winter and this is a really dark, berry colour that suits this time of year perfectly! To be fair, I will be wearing this all year round because it is such a good quality product that feels so luxurious; in terms of both packaging and the formulation of the lipstick itself. It is a matte lipstick, however it is not at all drying and really does last a long time. This is another product that I can no longer see myself without and will most definitely be repurchasing, along with many other shades from the same collection.

My next favourite is actually a coat. I bought this from Topshop at the beginning of the month and I have worn it pretty much everyday since! I didn’t really need a new coat, but this was in the ‘last chance to buy’ section and was the only one and in my size too, so I had to buy it, didn’t I? It is such a warm, cosy and high quality coat that goes with most things, and I will most definitely be wearing this next winter too!

My final favourite is the Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo and Conditioner. Recently, I have noticed that the blonde in my hair has started to look quite brassy and yellow and I wasn’t ready to have it dyed again, so I thought I’d buy something to get rid of the brassiness. I decided to go with the Lee Stafford range because I have so many other things by him that I absolutely love, so chances were, I was going to love this too. It has made such a difference to my hair and in the two weeks that I have been using it, it has completely reduced the yellow and brassy tones in my hair and is almost back to normal!

That is everything for this month’s favourites, let me know what you have been loving!

2015 Favourites

I cannot believe that we are in 2016 already, 2015 has absolutely flown by!

So, here are the things that I have been loving throughout 2015.

First, is something that I have been using every single day for about 6 weeks. This is the L’Oreal Infallible 24H Foundation. This is a medium to full coverage foundation and blends beautifully. The pigmentation is great and it really does last all day! I find that I don’t have to powder as much when I use this foundation and I think it is a really good, cheaper alternative to NARS Sheer Glow. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

My next favourite is something that goes alongside the L’Oreal Infallible Foundation, and this is the L’Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer. I have only been using this for a week or so, but it is such an amazing product that I had to include it! I find it really hard to find a product that helps control oil and shine, and this is absolutely does the trick! You only need to apply a small amount; a little really does go along way!

Something else that I have only been using for around a week, is the Liz Earle Radiant Skin Classics gift set. This gift set includes the oh-so-famous Cleanse and Polish, Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer and the Superskin Moisturiser. I have been using the Cleanse and Polish every night to remove my makeup and to freshen up my skin in the mornings, and even after a week, I can honestly say that I can notice the difference. It leaves my skin feeling clean and hydrated and this has now become a staple in my everyday skincare routine and I will 100% be repurchasing! I don’t know how I ever managed without it! The Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer is also amazing; this really wakes up your skin and makes you feel refreshed and awake. The Superskin Moisturiser has become my go-to moisturiser. I really struggle finding a moisturiser that I like and that suits my skin, and I have finally found it! I have been using this morning and evening and along with the other two products, it has a very fresh and refreshing, almost minty scent to it. I will most definitely be repurchasing all of these products!

Another thing that I have been loving this month is the Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner. I have used this before and loved it, but it seemed to have lost its way among the many other eyeliners that I have. This eyeliner is so easy to use and is very pigmented; a lot of eyeliners tend to fade and lose their colour but this one stays the same throughout the day. As you have probably already guessed by the name of the eyeliner, its main purpose is for the cat-eye look. This is something that all girls have struggled with at some point (if you haven’t, you’re lying) and this product just makes the process go a lot smoother and simpler. I find that it doesn’t smudge and lasts me all day. This product is an absolute must!

Two products that I have been loving are from The Body Shop. These are the Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate and the Nutriganics Smoothing Serum. I have been using these products morning and evening for around 6 weeks now and they have made such a huge difference to my skin. The eye concentrate really moisturises and hydrates around my eyes, reducing the amount of puffiness and making my eyes look a lot more awake. The serum has also helped revitalise the condition of my skin and I use it as a pre-moisturiser. I mainly bought this to help fight the first signs of ageing; I know I am only 18, but I have always been told to start this early! Both of the products are now a staple in my skincare routine and I will be repurchasing these along with other products from the same ranges!

A lipstick that I have been wearing pretty much everyday for the past month, is Mac’s Velvet Teddy. I love this lipstick as it is a matte shade and it does not dry out lips as some others tend to do. It is a lovely nude shade with a warm, brown undertone to it, making it the perfect colour for the colder months and it goes with almost everything! This has become my go-to lipstick and I am already thinking of buying a back-up!

I have also been loving the Urban Decay NAKED 2 palette. I have been wearing this palette every day since I bought it around 4 months ago. It has a mixture of matte and shimmer shades, making it perfect for every occasion. The eye shadows are so pigmented and they blend like an absolute dream, lasting all day. I have very recently got the original NAKED palette and I have been loving it so far. I haven’t had chance to try it out as much as I would like, but if NAKED 2 is anything to go by, I am guaranteed to love it!

I have two hair favourites that have been an absolute saviour to me this year. First of all is OGX. I have tried the majority of their shampoos, conditioners and treatments and I love them all. They all seem to have done wonders to my hair, particularly the Coconut Milk. My second hair favourite is Lee Stafford’s Coco Loco Coconut Mask. This has also helped my hair massively, getting it back to being soft and silky after many years worth of damage. Since using these products, my hair seems to have grown, gotten thicker and the condition of it has improved SO much. I think I will struggle finding other hair brands as good as these.

The perfumes that I have been loving are Marc Jacob’s Daisy Dream and Paco Rabanne’s Olympea. These are two completely different scents but they are both so goregous! I have already mentioned Daisy Dream in a previous post, but it has such a fresh, floral scent to it without it being to overpowering. Olympea is a much more powerful scent and is very feminine and floral with hints of vanilla, but it is just the right amount. I only just got this perfume but I am obsessed with it, so I had to include it! The packaging to both products are beautiful which makes it even better! And of course, Olympea is rose gold…

I have never really been that into candles but over the last few months I have become obsessed! There’s just something about having a candle lit during Christmas and Winter that makes is so much warmer and cosier. I have been loving the whole Yankee Candle Christmas Collection and I think I pretty much own the whole lot now! I have three small jars; Sparkling Cinnamon, Cosy by the Fire and Sparkling Snow. And many of the votive sizes, some Christmas, some not; Sunlight on Snow, Cinnamon Stick, Snowflake Cookie, Cosy by the Fire (again), Fireside Treats, Candy Cane Lane, Frosted Snow, Vanilla Cupcake, Fluffy Towels, Pink Grapefruit, Champaca Blossom and Snow in Love. I love all of these and even though some of these are Christmassy, I will be burning these all year round!

And finally, Lush. Lush is something that I have been completely and utterly obsessed with all year round, in particularly, their limited edition Christmas stock. I just find that all of their products are perfect for a bit of relaxation and pampering, especially during the colder months. I think I have enough of their Christmas products to last me until next year. I definitely went just a little bit overboard in their post-Christmas sales – oh well! I am also awaiting two Lush deliveries (oops). I’m not going to list every single product that I love because it would take me forever!

I hope you enjoyed my 2015 favourites and I wish you all a happy and healthy 2016.

Happy New Year!

L’Oreal Infallible Foundation

As I said in a previous post, the two foundations that I use on a daily basis are NARS Sheer Glow and NARS All Day Luminous Weightless. I love both of these products and they both suit my skin type, which is combination. I use Sheer Glow on the days where my skin is a bit drier, such as this time of year, as my skin tends to dry up as it gets colder. All Day Luminous Weightless is better when my skin is a bit oilier. These cost £31, and £32 and I have been trying to find a cheaper alternative for a while now, for days when I don’t need a lot of makeup or if I’m only going to be out for an hour or so.

This doesn’t mean I am going to be neglecting my NARS’ foundations!

I have finally found it…

This is the L’Oreal 24H Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation. I bought this in the shade 200 (Golden Sand) and it suits my skin tone perfectly. This foundation lasts me all day and doesn’t transfer, which is a bonus! It is so easy to blend and is medium coverage, but could easily be built up for a fuller looking complexion which is what I tend to do. I only bought this two weeks ago, and I have worn it every single day since I bought it.

It gives a dewy, satin finish and really brightens and hydrates the skin which is really important, especially during cold, winter months. It has a pump already attached which is massive plus! I also find that one pump is enough to cover the whole of my face, however if I want more of a fuller coverage then I tend to use two. Here is how much one pump distributes, which I feel is enough for a medium coverage look.

I alternate between two foundations brushes, however they both do the job perfectly. These are the Expert Face Brush by Real Techniques and the Zoeva 102 Silk Finish, which clearly need cleaning!

It is very similar to NARS Sheer Glow in terms of formula and finish, so this is perfect if you want something like Sheer Glow but can’t afford the £31 or if you just can’t justify spending that amount of money on foundation. This only costs £9.99 so is a perfect alternative.

If you’re looking for a new foundation, I would highly recommend this one and I will most definitely be repurchasing!
