Spring Reading List

I know, I know. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve written a blog post. I’m not sure how long it will last as I finish uni in about six weeks, but I’m hoping I can get back into the swing of things? We’ll see.

With Spring well on it’s way (well, kinda), this means that I have a whole load of university deadlines coming up – yay.

At this time of year, I am way too busy completing assignments and I have barely any spare time. But when I do, I like to do something that takes my mind off my work completely and have some time to myself. This is usually popping on a face mask and reading a book, even if it’s just for a half an hour before bed.

I absolutely love reading and find it is the perfect thing to help me wind down and relax. Once uni is over, I am going to put so much more time aside to read more.

I thought I would take you through the books I have on my current reading list and that I am going to try and make my way through over the next couple of months.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I’m sure you’ve seen this book everywhere recently, everyone seems to be reading it! I’ve started this book and although I am only a few chapters in, I can tell I am going to really, really enjoy it.

Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton. I have heard so many things about this book that I couldn’t not get it. I am SO excited to give this a read.

The F Word by Lily Pebbles. I’ve watched Lily on YouTube for years and I was really excited when I saw that she was releasing a book. I love that it is a completely different concept to other blogger/youtuber books and I think it is such a good idea! I also love the cover and the whole aesthetic of the book! I can’t wait to start reading this.

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella. I’ve only ever heard great things about Sophie Kinsella and this seems just like my kinda book.

Winding Down & ‘Me’ Time..

Hey guys. Sorry I have been away for so long, but I have a CRAZY amount of things going on at the minute that just meant blogging took a bit of a step back. I will be back, hopefully very soon, but it may be more of a gradual process as things are still extremely hectic. I hope you understand! And, as soon as I am back, I am hoping to be posting weekly YouTube videos too!

Here is a blog post that I found in my drafts that I thought I would finish off and post!

Even though Autumn and Winter are my absolute FAVE times of year, they can be slightly stressful with deadlines, work and Christmas. There is just so much going on that sometimes, you forget to have a day, or even an evening to yourself, to just relax, de-stress and unwind.

Today’s post is going to talk you through all of the things I like to do if I want to relax, chill out or if I could just do with a bit of ‘me’ time. It’s very rare that I have a whole day to do this, so I tend to do it during an evening.

So, I start by taking off my makeup with my trusty Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm. I then gently exfoliate using the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser, followed by the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser.

I then run myself a bath, of course using Lush products. Whilst my bath is running, I’ll put a face mask on, and the one I’m using is The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask. This has such a fresh scent, and is such a gentle exfoliator, it isn’t too harsh and is perfect for sensitive skin! I’ll then get in my bath, and this is where I will either read a book, catch up on some YouTube videos or read some blog posts. In the bath is where I feel completely relaxed, so I tend to have quite long baths and make the most of it.

I will then take off my face mask, finish off my evening skincare routine as usual and get into some super cosy pjs. I find one of my boyfriend’s baggy t-shirts, and some flannel (of course Tartan patterned) pj bottoms are the comfiest!

I like to make myself a hot chocolate with whipped cream, light a festive scented candle and get into bed and continue reading a book, reading, or writing blog posts or watching YouTube Videos. Even though I will most likely be on my laptop, I try not to go on my phone or any social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc in order to fully relax.

I also like to use the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. I have actually ran out of this, and need to get a new bottle (which is why there is no photo of this). But this actually works a treat! It is lavender scented, which is well-known for its calming and relaxing nature. This makes me feel super relaxed and cosy, and actually helps me fall to sleep a lot quicker. If I’m feeling particularly stressed or anxious about something, it also tends to calm me down and is extremely soothing. If you struggle with anxiety too, I would definitely recommend this! There are a few cheaper alternatives to the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, and I have heard a lot of people say that they love the Avon version!

I then try to get an early night and try not use my phone/laptop/tv, etc for around half an hour before bed. I also recently discovered an app called Headspace, which includes sessions on a variety of things; sleeping, health, relationships, etc. It really helps to clear your mind and is a bit like meditation, I guess. There are several other apps like this too, that really help to calm you down and help you to relax and destress before bed. Some of them, I fall asleep listening to. Again, I would highly recommend these kind of apps to people that have anxiety, or are going through a bit of a stressful time.

That is all for this post, I hope you enjoyed it! It is slightly different to my usual posts, but I really enjoyed writing this one! As I said at the beginning of the post, things are pretty hectic at the minute so I am hoping to get back to blogging as regularly as possible but it may bea gradual process. I hope you understand!

Thanks for reading! Don’t forget to like and follow for more posts!

New Books!

Since starting university in September, I seem to have forgotten about my love for reading. I just find that I don’t have the time, with university work and working at the weekends; but, I have decided that I am going to MAKE time to read.

I always found reading the perfect thing for when I just want a bit of ‘me-time’, whether that’s reading while having a soak in the bath, or when I need to wind down, or when I just fancy a break from the internet and social media.

So, I thought what better way to get back into reading, than to add some new editions to my book collection?

I went into the bookshop at my university and saw that they had a 3 for 2 offer on. I haven’t read any of Giovanna Fletcher’s novels and I watch her YouTube videos and think she is such an inspirational woman with everything else that she does, so I desperately wanted to pick up her books! The first one I picked up was ‘You’re The One That I Want’. I have heard great things about this book and it is definitely my cup of tea! I can not wait to give this a read! I was planning on buying the rest of her books, but the university bookshop didn’t stock them, so I am going to do an Amazon order for these later on!

The second book I picked up was ‘The Last Letter From Your Lover’ by Jojo Moyes. I have heard such good things about Jojo Moyes as an author and I still haven’t read ‘Me Before You’, which I do own and will be reading before this one! I have owned ‘Me Before You’ for several years, but I think I was a bit too young to understand and appreciate books like these, so I am looking forward to reading this now that I am older.

The last book that I picked up is the perfect book to keep on your bedside table, or coffee table! This is ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying’ by Marie Kondo. This book has been raved about so much on the internet and when I saw it, I just had to get it. As much as I try and tell myself that I am tidy and organised, I could definitely improve! I am terrible for hoarding clothes and makeup and things that I know I will never use again, but I can never seem to bring myself to throw them away! Hopefully now that I have this book, I can find the willpower to throw everything out that I no longer need or use!

I am really looking forward to getting back into reading again and I hope this post has given you some ideas as to what could be your next read. Let me know of any book recommendations that you have!
