Eylure x Fleur De Force – Review!

I love doing my makeup in the mornings, but I just find that doing my brows is a bit of a chore, y’know? I don’t know why, there’s just something about it that makes it less enjoyable than the rest of my face. So, anything that makes doing them as quick and easy as possible, I am all for.

I went through a phase of using pomades, and waxes, but I just found them too much of a faff and I always think they have a tendency to make brows look a bit harsh and angry looking. I prefer softer, more natural looking brows.

FDF x Eylure range

I’ve watched Fleur’s videos and read her blog for years now, and have always loved how she does her makeup, especially her brows. When I saw that she’d released a whole range of brow products with Eylure, I was super excited to give them a go. When I went into my local boots to pick them up, the products were on a 3 for 2 offer – even better! I picked up the Brow Palette, the Brow Define pencil and the double-ended Brow Tamer brow gel. I got all of these in the shade Medium, and even though I am blonde and prefer a softer looking brow, I do tend to have them a few shades darker than my hair – I just think it looks a bit better.

All of these products are incredible, and they are honestly all I use on my brows now. The Brow Define pencil is amazing at creating hair-like strokes, perfect for natural, yet fuller looking brows. It is double ended too, which to me, is just amazing. It allows you to fill your brows in with a slightly lighter shade at the beginning of your brow, and then gradually make them darker with the slightly darker shade at the other end and this creates a gorgeous gradient effect on your brows.

The Brow Palette includes 2 brow powders, a lighter shade and a darker one, and then a matte highlight too. I like to use the lighter shade in the palette to create fine lines at the start of my brows and then the darker shade to give them a bit more shape and definition. The powders are a really nice formula as they aren’t too pigmented, so you don’t end up with really harsh looking lines, but they are pigmented enough so that they do the job properly. The matte highlight is really nice too, I wasn’t crazy about this when I first saw it, but it highlights the brow bone in a really soft and subtle way, and gives that extra bit of shape. It also acts as a really lovely inner corner highlight on no-makeup, makeup days.

fdf brow palette2

Now. I was extremely loyal to my L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumping Gel, however since using the Brow Tamer from Fleur’s Eylure range, I haven’t touched it. The clear end of this brow gel is insanely good, it gives brows a really nice shape and does make them look a lot thicker and fuller. I tend to use this when I’ve just had my eyebrows tinted, or when I’m wearing very minimal makeup. I absolutely love the coloured brow gel! The brush is small enough to grab every hair, and it doesn’t go crispy or smudgy like some others do. It keeps my brows in place all day, and they do not budge!

FDF x Eylure Brow Tamer

I can’t recommend this range enough. You may not be as interested if you do prefer a much thicker looking brow, but even so, you can build the products up.

I am so, so impressed with the quality of these products and the packaging is super pretty too! I can’t to see what other products Fleur decides to release!

Spring Reading List

I know, I know. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve written a blog post. I’m not sure how long it will last as I finish uni in about six weeks, but I’m hoping I can get back into the swing of things? We’ll see.

With Spring well on it’s way (well, kinda), this means that I have a whole load of university deadlines coming up – yay.

At this time of year, I am way too busy completing assignments and I have barely any spare time. But when I do, I like to do something that takes my mind off my work completely and have some time to myself. This is usually popping on a face mask and reading a book, even if it’s just for a half an hour before bed.

I absolutely love reading and find it is the perfect thing to help me wind down and relax. Once uni is over, I am going to put so much more time aside to read more.

I thought I would take you through the books I have on my current reading list and that I am going to try and make my way through over the next couple of months.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I’m sure you’ve seen this book everywhere recently, everyone seems to be reading it! I’ve started this book and although I am only a few chapters in, I can tell I am going to really, really enjoy it.

eleanor oliphant book.jpg

Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton. I have heard so many things about this book that I couldn’t not get it. I am SO excited to give this a read.

dolly book.jpg

The F Word by Lily Pebbles. I’ve watched Lily on YouTube for years and I was really excited when I saw that she was releasing a book. I love that it is a completely different concept to other blogger/youtuber books and I think it is such a good idea! I also love the cover and the whole aesthetic of the book! I can’t wait to start reading this.

the f word book

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella. I’ve only ever heard great things about Sophie Kinsella and this seems just like my kinda book.

Let me know if you’ve ever read any of these books and what you think! Also, let me know if you have any other book recommendations.

Beat the frizz!

Does anybody else get crazy frizzy, fluffy hair this time of year? Not quite Summer, but still not quite Autumn – my hair goes absolutely crayyyy. My hair is naturally wavy, and can sometimes look half-decent without even having to do anything to it, so this time of year means I actually have to make an effort with my hair and do something with it.

I have tried so many different shampoos, conditioners and hair products and nothing has seemed to help me beat the frizz. That was until the lovely people over at John Frieda sent me some of their Frizz-Ease range. At first, I did think that it’d be the same as other products I have tried in the past so I didn’t have massively high expectations, but I was so, so pleasantly surprised!

john frieda

There was a pre-wash treatment that I put on my hair before I shampooed and conditioned. I apply the 10 Day Tamer to dry hair, brush it through with my oh-so-trusty Tangle Teezer, and leave it on for about 10 minutes, before jumping in the shower to use the shampoo and conditioner.

john frieda 10 day tamer

The shampoo lathers really nicely and makes my hair feel super clean and thoroughly cleansed of any products it had in it previously, which is something I really look for in shampoos. The conditioner is really nourishing, leaves my hair silky soft but without it looking or feeling at all greasy! I love the combination of these together.

john frieda shampoo and conditioner

Once I have gotten out of the shower, and towel-dried my hair, I use one pump of the L’Oreal Mythic Oil oil and run it through the mid-lengths and ends of my hair and leave my hair to air-dry. I use this oil religiously, and is amazing at adding a bit of shine to your hair but also really helps with the overall condition of my hair, particularly the ends.

mythic oil oil and tangle teezer

The combination of all these products really help to tame my hair of any frizz, and has also helped keep it from looking too oily and greasy. I try not to wash my hair too much, but I do have naturally oily hair, and with the help of these products, I manage to get it down to every 2-3 days! I would definitely recommend these products if you are somebody that is prone to a bit of frizz!

That is my transitional hair-care routine, and how I beat the frizz!

Let me know if any of you have tried anything from this range yet!

June and July Faves

So, seeing as I missed June faves time, I thought I would combine them with my July faves. This months favourites is a right mixed bag and quite a lengthy one so apologies in advance!

There are two concealers that I have been obsessed with lately and have used them every time I have worn makeup. One high-end, one drugstore. The first one is the much loved and talked about, NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer. If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you’ll know that I’m not crazy about matte products, especially for my skin. I much prefer a glowy, dewy kinda look, so I was put off of this product for a while. But after checking it out for myself in store, and being on the hunt for a new concealer, I thought I’d give it a go. I honestly don’t know what I used before this? It’s THE best concealer I have tried to date. Do not be scared off by the name of it, it is nowhere near as matte as it is made out to be – but more of a velvety kinda finish, which I love. The coverage of this product is insanely good, it is super high coverage but doesn’t feel heavy or cakey in the slightest. It covers up everyyyyyything. I use this to cover any redness, or blemishes and to try and hide the darkness under my eyes to even out my skin tone a bit. It may look like there isn’t much product, but I have used this almost everyday and I’ve barely made a dent! This will last such a long time and I will most definitely be repurchasing!

The second concealer is the Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating concealer. I use this after I have gone in with the NARS one and I use this to brighten under my eyes, and as kind of a highlighter I guess. I use it the same way I would use the YSL Touché Eclat as it has very similar qualities to that. I tend to apply this after I have done the rest of my makeup, particularly my eye makeup as it tidies and sharpens it up a bit, making sure there is no fall-out from the shadows, and I find it really enhances the rest of the look. As much as I love the Touché Eclat, I tend to reach for this one a little bit more as it has that bit of extra coverage! I need to buy a back up of this asap!

My foundation favourite this month, is something I didn’t expect to like as much as I do and I’m not sure why. I think because most of my favourite foundations are high-end, and this one is very affordable, but I couldn’t have been more wrong! This is the Milani Conceal and Perfect 2-in-1 foundation in the shade 02. I ordered this online and just guessed my shade and luckily it is the perfect shade for me during the summer. The coverage of this foundation is absolutely incredible, and gives the most natural looking finish. I apply this using my Real Techniques Stippling Brush and find that this gives the best finish. This is very similar to the Clinique 2-in-1 beyond perfection foundation, so if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative then I would definitely recommend this! I have used this most days throughout June and July, and when I haven’t used it on its own, I have mixed it with other products to give better coverage. I cannot fault this product at all!

Something I’ve never really been into before is brown eyeliner. Not sure why, I just usually reach for black, but when I was going through my makeup stash, I realised I was lacking a brown eyeliner so I went and picked one up! I can’t believe I have never used this before! The one I picked up was the Bourjois Kohl and Contour, and I apply it roughly to my top lash line, smoke it out a bit using my Zoeva Smudger Brush, pop on my mascara and I’m good to go! It is so much softer than black which can sometimes look a bit too harsh, and this is perfect when you haven’t really got time for eyeshadow or just can’t be bothered and is something just a bit different! I have been wearing this non-stop for about 3 weeks and I’m still loving it!

The Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream is something I have spoke about before so I won’t go on too much. But this is the most amazing moisturiser everrrrr. I have tried and tested so many in the past because I have been blessed with the most awkward skin, and I can’t find one better than this. My skin is oily, yet dehydrated so most moisturisers tend to just sink into my skin straight away and within five minutes, it’s back to how it was before. But this moisturiser keeps my skin feeling amazing all day. If I’m having a makeup free day, and I put this on in the morning, by the time I come to do my evening skincare routine, my skin still feels soft and hydrated. Honestly, just go buy it. I’m gonna buy the supersize version as backup for when I run out of this one! They also do an SPF version too!

Last month, the lovely people over at Palmer’s ever so kindly sent me a few products from the new coconut oil range. I love body oils, so was suuuuper excited to try this one out. And ohmygoodness!!!! 1) it smells like summer in a bottle?! 2) it leaves your skin feeling insanely soft and hydrated, but not at all sticky! WIN. This will definitely be coming on holiday with me!

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this product in a blog post before, and I have no idea why because I literally use it every single day. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in the shade Luminous Light is the only powder I will use to set my face. This sets makeup amazingly, and gives the most gorgeous glow. I was a bit hesitant at first because from first glance, it does look a bit like a highlighter but it just makes your skin looking incredible! I have used this every day for about a year now, and although I have hit pan, there is so much product left! I know Hourglass products are pricey, but this one is definitely worth the slightly hefty price tag!

Now, an actual highlighter. People have raved about MAC highlighters for years, but only recently have I tried one. I picked up MAC’s Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle. It gives such a lovely glow, and is the perfect colour for my skin tone! And the pan is absolutely huge, I have no idea how I’m ever going to get through it all!

That’s all for this favourites post! I hope you enjoyed! Don’t forget to like and follow my blog!

Palmer’s Skincare – Review!

Hey everyone!

So, today I thought I would have a chat about some of the Palmer’s skincare products I have been trying out lately.

palmers feat

I saw a couple of other bloggers mention a couple of these products, and I am always on the hunt for new skincare products, especially when it’s drugstore, so I thought it would be only right to give them a go. I picked up the Day Cream, Night Cream, Facial Oil and the Natural Bronze Body Lotion.

I absolutely HATE fake tan. I can’t do it, it’s messy, it wears off so easily and I think it can look a bit too fake at times. SO, I tend to reach for tinted body lotions, or gradual tans instead. I have tried many gradual tan’s and have loved all of the ones I have tried (Dove, Garnier, you name it). However, there is just something that I love a little bit more about the Palmer’s Natural Bronze Body Lotion. It is so much more moisturising and hydrating, and it smells incredible. It looks a lot more natural, makes your skin look super fresh and glowy and you can build it up as much as you need. It is super easy to apply, goes on evenly and doesn’t leave any streaks or dry patches on elbows or knees. This is an absolute essential for Summer!

natural bronze

The Day Cream is just as fab. I find it really hard to find an affordable moisturiser that is really hydrating and nourishing, particularly with SPF, which this one also has. It has the famous Palmer’s scent, which I love and it leaves my skin feeling soooo soft all day. It has quite a thick consistency, but isn’t at all heavy on the skin and absorbs super quickly. This also creates a great base for makeup. If you’re looking for an affordable moisturiser, I would definitely recommend giving this one a go!

day cream

The Palmer’s Facial Oil has made itself a firm favourite in my skincare routine. Do you know how hard it is to find a facial oil that contains retinol that doesn’t cost a crazy amount of money? Almost impossible. This has helped my skin so much. I put it on every night as part of my evening skincare routine and it has helped with pigmentation, helped reduce any marks that blemish’s have left, and I wake up and my skin is super smooth and glowing. Not only does it include Retinol, but a whole load of other oils and vitamins that are beneficial to the skin. For the price of this product, you should most definitely try it out!

facial oilfacial oil2

The Moisture Rich Night Cream for Overnight Renewal is also incredible. This also contains Retinol and a shed load of other oils and vitamins that do nothing but good things to your skin. The formulation of this product is really thick and is a super rich and intensive moisturiser – perfect to apply as the final step in my evening skincare routine and just before bed. My skin is still super soft when I wake up, and it definitely lives up to it’s claims of ‘overnight renewal’.

night cream

I have loved using these products so much, they are such good quality and super affordable. I can’t wait to try out so much more from their range, as it works so well with my skin!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you have tried any of these products, or anything else from the Palmer’s skincare range!

May Faves!

Hey everyone!

Wow. It has been soooo long since I did a monthly faves… This may be a slightly longer favourites post as it has been quite a while since my last one, and apologies for it being slightly late. So, let’s get stuck in!

may faves feat pic

I have really been loving the Clinique 2-in-1 Beyond Perfection foundation. My Mum used this and couldn’t stop raving about it, so I thought I’d give it a try myself. I went to my local boots, where I got matched up and given a sample to try before I buy. I tried it the next day and knew I needed to buy it. I got this in the shade 2, Alabaster. The applicator for this foundation is more concealer-like, with a large dofer applicator. I really like this as it isn’t messy and applies super quick and easily. I find it blends best with a damp beauty blender, and it gives a medium, but buildable coverage. It evens out skin tone really nicely, and gives a demi-matte finish. It lasts such a long time, and doesn’t transfer as easily as other foundations do. A little really does go a long way with this, and I have been reaching for it a lot. I’m not all that into foundations at the minute, and besides tinted moisturisers and BB creams, this is the only one that seems to be working well for my skin right now!

clinique

I’m not really into heavy or full coverage finishes, however… The Urban Decay NAKED concealer is an absolute god-send when it comes to covering up really bad spots and blemishes. It is super full-coverage, but isn’t heavy looking or cakey at all! It also doesn’t wear as easily. Some other concealers tend to wear and rub off, particularly in more oily areas – which is where I usually get spots (my chin) and this seems to last all day. LOVE.

naked skin concealer

The next product is a powder foundation. I have never tried one of these before, but I had heard such amazing things that I had to give it a go. This is the Pixi Colour Correcting Powder Foundation. I am absolutely in love with this! It is perfect when I have a very light-coverage base on underneath as this just evens out my skin tone a little more, keeping the oil at bay and keeps my makeup in place all day. As you can see from the photo, I dropped it and it smashed into a million pieces. It isn’t a massive issue as I can still use it, but whenever I put my brush into the pan, it just ends up going everywhere, so I need to pick up a new one!

pixi powder foundation

My next favourite is a mascara. When this first came out, everybody loved it and I absolutely hated it, I just couldn’t get on with it and I don’t know why – maybe I had a dodgy one? But now, I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational almost every single day. It lengthens and volumizes my lashes, making them look crazyyyy long! I also really like this for bottom lashes too. It does give lashes that slightly clumpy look, not massively, but if you’re not into that then this isn’t for you. BUT, if you love that clumped together look, then you will absolutely love this mascara! I will continue to repurchase this over and over…

lash sensational

I’m not all that venturous when it comes to brows. I find brows that much of a faff that when I find a product I’m happy with and enjoy using, I just kind of stick with it. But somebody recommended the Sleek Brow Kit and I thought it was about time I tried something new on my brows, and now, I genuinely don’t think I will use anything else to fill them in! I have it in the shade Dark, and Light, and the lighter one seems to be working a little better now that my hair is also lighter. I apply the wax first, using my Zoeva Brow Line brush, starting on the edges and outside of my brow, working my way in and then fill them in, using less product at the front. I then go over them in the powder to help add a bit more colour, set them and keep them in place. It is super easy and still keeps brows looking quite natural, which I love.

sleek brow

The Max Factor Creme Bronzer in Light Gold is a new discovery and one I think is the perfect addition to my makeup  bag for Summer! This gives the most gorgeous glow to the skin and such a lovely shade, not too warm, nor cool toned. It is great to use all over the face and for adding a little bit of depth, and the teeniest bit of shimmer. Perfect for giving you that subtle, summer glow!

maxfactor bronzer

My final favourite is a perfume. Perfume is something I am SO fussy and particular with; I go from one extreme to the other. From really dark, heavy and woody scents, to really light, soft, and fresh. For my birthday, Jake bought me a bottle of Jo Malone in the scent Mimosa and Cardamom. Oh. My. God. It is insane. It’s a really lightweight, and fresh scent, with slighter warmer, woodier undertones. It is great for all year round, but is particularly lovely during these gorgeous summer evening’s we have been having lately. This lasts all day, and I already know that I will be repurchasing this! I have also tried out Pomegranate Noir, Wood Sage & Sea Salt, Blackberry & Bay and Myrhh & Tonka, so I am SO torn as to which one to buy next as they are all so beautiful. Jo Malone products are perfect for gift ideas, and are such a luxurious product to own.

jo malone

That is all for my May Faves. I hope you enjoyed. If you have tried any of these products, let me know!

Zoeva Makeup Artist Zoe Bag: Review

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well!

Today, I am going to be reviewing the Rose Golden vol.3 Makeup Artist Zoe Bag.

First of all, how beautiful are these brushes?! They are so aesthetically pleasing, and really are the most gorgeous brushes I have EVER seen.

brushes bag

My Mum bought me my first proper set of makeup brushes, around two, or three years ago and they were also Zoeva. Since then, I have tried many different brands of makeup brushes, and none of them seem to compare to the Zoeva ones. I still have the ones that my Mum bought me and they are still going strong today. I just decided to update my makeup brushes with a bit more variety.

As well as the brushes, you get the most beautiful box that it arrives in, along with quite a large, but extremely useful makeup bag that I have actually used so much! It’s big enough to fit in all of my makeup brushes, and my everyday makeup! Perfect for travelling, weekends away, or overnight stays.

zoeva boxbagbag 1bag2bag3

This set consists of 30 brushes. 15 face brushes including;

90 Luxe Grand Powder, 101 Luxe Face Definer, 104 Buffer, 105 Luxe Highlight, 109 Luxe Face Paint, 110 Face Shape, 112 Face Curve, 114 Luxe Face Focus, 125 Stippling, 126 Luxe Cheek Finish, 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek, 129 Luxe Fan, 132 Luxe Powder Finish, 134 Luxe Powder Fusion, 142 Concealer Buffer.

brushes1brushes2brushes3

And, 15 eye and lip brushes including;

220 Luxe Grand Shader, 223 Petit Eye Blender, 225 Luxe Eye Blender, 226 Smudger, 227 Luxe Soft Definer, 228 Luxe Crease, 231 Luxe Petit Crease, 233 Cream Shader, 234 Luxe Smoky Shader, 235 Contour Shader, 238 Luxe Precise Shader, 315 Fine Liner, 317 Wing Liner, 322 Brow Line, 330 Lip Contour.

brushes5brushes7brushes6

Since taking the photos for this post, I can honestly say that these were SO worth the money. The brushes cost £200, but are crazyyyy good quality and they wash so well! I’m always slightly concerned when washing white makeup brushes, just incase they stain and leave the brushes looking slightly dingy. I wash them with Johnson’s’ Baby Shampoo and it works wonders!

If you’re looking to buy some new makeup brushes, I would 100000% recommend these brushes, or any brushes from Zoeva. They are really worth the money, and last such a long time.

If you have tried any Zoeva brushes before, let me know what you think of them! And, if you have any other suggestions for me, please let me know!

Don’t forget to like and follow my blog!
